On Friday, 7 November, Lord Mayor Sven Schulze will receive a delegation of around 30 people from České Budějovice, one of the three European Capitals of Culture 2028, in the council chamber of the town hall.
The delegation will be in Chemnitz on 7 and 8 November. The cultural and partnership-based exchange programme for the European Capital of Culture will focus on young participants who want to network with the Chemnitz Generation team and meet many other stakeholders. The focus is on international youth work and the participation of young people in the cultural sector.
Lord Mayor Sven Schulze will welcome the group to City Hall at 2.15 pm and present Chemnitz 2025 as the European Capital of Culture and a driving force for urban development.
Prior to this, from 1 p.m., the two managing directors of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025 gGmbH, Andrea Pier and Stefan Schmidtke, will welcome the guests in the Hartmannfabrik. Representatives of the media are invited to attend. A photo opportunity is planned at around 1.55 pm before the delegation heads to the town hall.
České Budějovice is the capital of the South Bohemian Region in the south of the Czech Republic. Together with České Budějovice, the French city of Bourges and the North Macedonian city of Skopje will be the European Capitals of Culture in 2028.
In addition to the exchange of experiences, the visit is intended to initiate long-term cooperation between the two European Capitals of Culture, the current and the future one. For example, the delegation will take part in various workshops organised by the project teams of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025 gGmbH, for example on the participation of young people in the European Capital of Culture concept. The delegation will also meet the "Dancing Neighbours" to dance together. A visit to the Garage Campus and excursions into the cultural region to visit some of the Purple Path sites are also planned, as well as a stop in the Czech town of Jáchymov in the Bohemian Ore Mountains, where the delegation will receive an introduction to the cross-border project "ExtractiveZones.eu".
