Mayor Petra Wesseler bids farewell
Building committee to be chaired by Mayor Miko Runkel until the new election - Head of Civil Engineering Bernd Gregorzyk takes over as head of the department
Ahead of today's council meeting, Mayor Petra Wesseler, who will take up her new position as President of the Federal Office for Building and Regional Planning in Berlin in mid-February, was bid farewell.
Mayor Barbara Ludwig thanked Mayor Petra Wesseler for her work and bid her farewell with the wish that she would continue to act as an ambassador for Chemnitz in the capital.
Until a new head of department is appointed, Mayor Miko Runkel, who is also responsible for the environment, will head the Planning, Building and Environment Committee. Bernd Gregorzyk, head of the civil engineering department, will take over the internal and external management of the building department from February.
The timeline for the new election is based on the Saxon municipal code. As the mayors at the head of Departments 1 and 3 are also to be newly elected, the elections are expected to take place in June.
