Mayor of Kiryat Bialik signs the Golden Book
Town twinning officially confirmed at a ceremony
Chemnitz and Kiryat Bialik sealed their town twinning today, Wednesday. The agreement was officially signed at a ceremony. To mark the occasion, the Mayor of Kirjat Bialik, Eli Dukorski, signed the city's Golden Book.
Lord Mayor Sven Schulze: "After 23 years, we are entering into a new town twinning partnership. A partnership that will be a great enrichment for both cities. However, this agreement is not a starting signal for the beginning of our partnership, but an important milestone on the path that we have already travelled together and that we want to continue. It forms the administrative framework for our cooperation, which has been brought to life by the activities of people, associations, institutions and companies for many years. That is what is special about this town twinning: the relationship that we are formally recognising today was not initiated by the administrations, but by committed citizens of both towns. I would like to encourage them all, and especially the schools, associations and initiatives in our two cities, to seek regular dialogue. Let us get to know and understand each other even better. Let's work together to make this partnership what it should be in the long term: a living expression of mutual respect, appreciation and friendly co-operation."
Eli Dukorski has been Mayor of Kirjat Bialik since 2008. The 58-year-old was born and grew up in Kiryat Bialik. He has a master's degree in public administration from the University of Haifa and a bachelor's degree in political and social sciences from Emek Jezreel Academic College. He began his career as a journalist at the newspaper "Had Karyot". Eli Dukorski has been a member of the city council in his home town since 1989.
