Mayor Ludwig opens Saxon Music School Days 2014 in Chemnitz
The "Saxon Music School Days 2014" are taking place today and tomorrow in Chemnitz. The Association of German Music Schools - Regional Association of Saxony has invited representatives from all Saxon music schools to attend. The conference was opened today by Lord Mayor Barbara Ludwig in the Council Chamber of Chemnitz Town Hall.
"The fact that the Saxon Music School Days are being held in Chemnitz this year is a wonderful honour for the Chemnitz music school. And a well-deserved one. After all, the number of pupils has doubled in the last 10 years alone thanks to the high quality of teaching and the wide range of courses on offer. This is also the reason for the current extension to the Chemnitz music school. By 2018, the conditions will be created to provide a total of 2,500 pupils with a musical education."
The opening was followed by presentations in the morning, in which the Lions Club and the Mozart Society Chemnitz, among others, reported on their work and upcoming projects. In the afternoon, following a workshop, a visit to the Gunzenhauser Museum is on the programme.
Tomorrow, Friday, the association's general meeting will take place in the town hall.
