The Ministry of Economic Affairs has earmarked 12 million euros for the electrification and expansion of the Chemnitz - Leipzig line in the state's double budget.

"This is really good news for the Chemnitz region," says Lord Mayor Barbara Ludwig. "This step is crucial in order to be able to actually implement the steps agreed with Minister President Tillich and Deutsche Bahn to connect the region to long-distance transport. And now it's time to plan quickly so that the money can be spent."
