Mayor Ludwig congratulates Niles-Simmons on 180 years of company history
Managing Partner Prof Hans J. Naumann signs the city's Golden Book
Today, Wednesday, Niles-Simmons is celebrating its 180th anniversary with a festive event. Mayor Barbara Ludwig, the President of the Fraunhofer Gesellschaft, Prof. Dr Raimund Neugebauer, and the former Minister President of Saxony, Prof. Dr Kurt Biedenkopf, will be among those attending the event at the company's headquarters in Zwickauer Strasse. The Managing Partner of Niles-Simmons, Prof. Dr Hans J. Naumann, is honoured for his services with an entry in the Golden Book of the City of Chemnitz.
Mayor Barbara Ludwig: "I would like to congratulate him on his anniversary. Niles-Simmons stands for modern mechanical engineering: globally orientated, regionally anchored. The company benefits from the strong economic and scientific infrastructure in the city and region. And it itself makes a significant contribution to Chemnitz being recognised as a city of innovative mechanical and plant engineering. Niles-Simmons is therefore a role model for many young companies and potential company founders in the city. Prof Naumann in particular has been committed to Chemnitz for years, far beyond the boundaries of his own company. The city thanks him for this today with an entry in the Golden Book."
The company was founded in 1833 under the name Niles Tools Works in Cincinnati (Ohio, USA). The company's first German branch was founded in Berlin in 1898. Niles-Simmons has been based in Chemnitz since the 1930s. In 1992, Niles-Simmons Industrieanlagen GmbH was founded in Chemnitz.
