Mayor invites Neuchemnitz residents
Naturalisation ceremony on 15 November, 4 p.m. - 120 citizens from 26 countries were granted German citizenship between June 2011 and August 2012
Mayor Barbara Ludwig will receive newly naturalised citizens of Chemnitz on Thursday, 15 November 2012, 4 p.m., for a coffee in the Chemnitz Ratskeller. Representatives of the media are cordially invited to attend.
The naturalisation ceremony is taking place for the third time in Chemnitz. It is intended to provide an opportunity to talk to each other about expectations, goals and hopes. Mayor Barbara Ludwig will warmly welcome the new citizens of Chemnitz. Also taking part in the event will be Etelka Kobuß, the City of Chemnitz Commissioner for Foreigners, Montero Perez, Chairman of the Foreigners' Advisory Council, Angela Gomon-Voit from Caritasverband Chemnitz und Umg. e.V. and a representative of the Jewish Community of Chemnitz.
The musical programme will be provided by two musicians from Afghanistan who play traditional instruments. Tower keeper Stefan Weber invites the people of Neuchemnitz to a tour of the town hall and tower at 5 pm.
In Chemnitz, a total of 120 citizens from 26 countries of origin opted for German citizenship between 17 June 2011 and 22 August 2012 and received their naturalisation certificate.
The Neuchemnitz citizens come from countries such as Ukraine, Hungary, Russia and Vietnam. 40 guests are expected to attend the naturalisation ceremony.
