Mayor informs about the status of the intervention areas

On Friday, 12 January at 10 a.m., representatives of the media are invited to a press conference in room 118 of City Hall. Mayor Michael Stötzer will then provide information on the current status of the realisation of the intervention areas for the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025.
Intervention areas are the city of Chemnitz's urban development project in the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025 programme. A total of 31 locations will undergo a transformation in different ways: from the traditional Hartmann factory, which will be converted into a visitor centre for visitors to the European Capital of Culture in the festival year, to a new district park on the renaturalised Pleißenbach stream on a former railway site, to the Euba fairground, where Christmas markets and village festivals will be held in future.
Around 30 million euros are available for these construction projects from the overall budget of the European Capital of Culture. In addition, the City of Chemnitz is expecting further funding from specialist funding programmes for the properties amounting to over 30 million euros. This will enable an investment volume of more than 60 million euros.
