Mayor Barbara Ludwig honours lifesavers
Presentation of the Lifesaving Badge of Honour of the Free State of Saxony and entries in the Golden Book of the City of Chemnitz - Invitation for media representatives for Thursday, 14 March, 5 p.m., Old Town Hall (Agricola Hall)
In a festive event on Thursday, 14 March at 5 pm in the Agricola Hall of the Old Town Hall of the City of Chemnitz, Lord Mayor Barbara Ludwig will honour the courageous intervention of four citizens who saved the lives of a young mother and her toddler in November last year with their quick action and fearlessness: The four rescuers had tried to fend off a life-threatening dog attack until the police arrived and were able to bring the toddler to safety.
Thomas Heinz, Christian Präkels, Michael Schmidtke and Eric Schwuchow will be honoured on Thursday in the Old Town Hall with the award of the Lifesaving Badge of Honour of the Free State of Saxony and an entry in the city's Golden Book.
Representatives of the media are cordially invited to attend; please note that the event will take place in the Agricola Hall (one of the wedding halls of the registry office) in Chemnitz Old Town Hall and therefore please use the access from the market side via the Judith Lucretia portal.
Chemnitz Police Chief Uwe Reißmann and other representatives of the Chemnitz Police Department, who played a key role in the campaign at the time, will also be attending the ceremony. The mayor of Gersdorf, Wolfgang Streubel, will also be present, as one of the lifesavers - Mr Christian Präkels - lives in the municipality.
Among the guests at the festive event will be Birgit Albrecht, the mother of the rescued Lisa Albrecht, together with her rescued grandson Ian Michael Albrecht. Lisa Albrecht, who was seriously injured by the dog at the time, is currently in hospital again for treatment. Birgit Albrecht would like to use the festive gathering in the town hall, which will end with a coffee, to thank the lifesavers on behalf of her daughter. The lifesavers will each receive a copy of the volume "100 Years of the New Town Hall" as a memento.
