May bonfire on Walpurgis Night in Chemnitz
On Sunday evening, 30 April, on Walpurgis Night, authorised public bonfires will be lit in Chemnitz at the following locations, among others:
- Richard-Hartmann-Platz (city centre) from 6 pm to 11 pm
- Goetheweg 58-60/corner of Rabensteiner Straße (Röhrsdorf) from 7.30 pm to midnight
- Kreisigstraße opposite the Eselsbrücke bridge (Rabenstein) from 6 pm to midnight
- Viewpoint at the poplar tree (Einsiedel) from 7 pm to midnight
- Kirchweg (Euba) from 9 pm to midnight
A total of nine applications for the burning of a traditional bonfire on Walpurgis Night were submitted by clubs, event organisers and private individuals and approved by the City of Chemnitz Public Order Office this year.
