Track sprinter Maximilian Levy, who competes for Team Erdgas in Chemnitz, won the silver medal at the Olympic Games in London. In the keirin, he was only narrowly beaten by Britain's Chris Hoy. This was Levy's second medal at the Olympic Games after winning bronze in the team sprint.

Mayor Barbara Ludwig: "Congratulations to Maximilian Levy. Olympic silver is another huge achievement after bronze in the team sprint. I am sure he will achieve many more successes in the coming years. And maybe he'll be at the top of the podium at the next Olympic Games in Rio."

The Olympic Games are taking place in London until 12 August 2012.
