On Tuesday, 18 June at 5 pm, the exhibition "Plants - Pictures" will open in the Botanical Garden, Leipziger Straße 147. It shows works by students of textile art/textile design at the Applied Arts Schneeberg, Faculty of the West Saxon University of Applied Sciences Zwickau. The show will be opened in the foyer of the main building of the Botanical Garden by its director, Dr Sten Gillner, and the head of the course, Prof Jörg Steinbach.

Interested parties and representatives of the media are cordially invited to attend.

In 2023, the Textile Art/Textile Design degree programme (Faculty of Applied Arts Schneeberg, West Saxon University of Applied Sciences Zwickau) and the Chemnitz Botanical Garden entered into a partnership. Two study groups from the first and third semesters worked on different artistic and design issues with materials and motifs from the floral world in the autumn/winter semester 2023/24. They used bobbin lace techniques with steel wire and a variety of experimental surface design techniques. The exhibition now shows the results of this collaboration.

The students' work can be viewed until December 2024 during the Botanic Garden's opening hours: from April to October daily from 8 am to 6 pm and from November to January daily from 8 am to 4 pm. From February to March, the Botanic Garden is open daily from 8 am to 5 pm.
