Marx and China - do they go together?
VHS course on 20 July, 5 to 6.30 p.m., in the TIETZ, course room 4.07
The adult education centre is hosting a lecture on Tuesday, 20 July, from 5 to 6.30 pm on the topic "Marx and China - do they go together?".
Attendance is free of charge. Due to the applicable distancing rules, the number of places for participants is limited and registration at www.vhs-chemnitz.de is recommended.
The two philosophers Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels stand for the most rational description of the capitalist mode of production to date and made a contribution to the world cultural heritage recognised by UNESCO in 2013. They drew fundamental conclusions from their findings for the creation of a new type of civilisation.
On this evening, the academic Eike Kopf looks at the People's Republic of China and can testify that no other country in the world is currently devoting as much attention and energy to the translation and creative utilisation of the literary legacy of Marx and Engels as China. Against the background of his almost 50 years of Marx-Engels research and the experience and knowledge he has gained during numerous visits to China, the speaker will demonstrate that Marx and China do indeed go together.
Prof. Dr phil. Eike Kopf studied philosophy, economics and history in Leipzig and Jena, worked as a university lecturer and has been a foreign expert with the Chinese government since 1997 and a member of the Chinese National People's Congress since 2003. He has published numerous publications and books on Marx, Engels and China.
This event is a co-operation between the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation and the Chemnitz Adult Education Centre.
