Fair around the town hall
On Monday, 4 November 2019, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., the City of Chemnitz will be holding the last funfair of the year around Chemnitz City Hall. As usual, the traders will have an extensive range of goods on offer. A wide range of food and drink will be on offer to cater for your physical well-being. The first fair in the new year will be held on 3 February 2020, 9 am to 4 pm. The closing date for applications is the last working day in December 2019.

End of the weekly market at the town hall
On Friday, 8 November 2019, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., the last weekly market of the year will take place at Chemnitz Town Hall.

Arrival of the Christmas tree
Until the arrival of the Christmas tree on 9 November 2019, in the late afternoon, the waiting time can be shortened with a pre-Christmas barbecue, mulled wine and sweets. A children's carousel will keep young visitors entertained.

Opening of the Chemnitz Christmas market
Lord Mayor Barbara Ludwig will open the market with the traditional stollen cutting ceremony on
29 November 2019, 4 p.m., on the market square at the town hall together with Father Christmas to open the Chemnitz Christmas Market 2019.

Mountain parade
One of the impressive highlights of the Christmas season is the 41st Great Mountain Parade on 30 November 2019, starting at 2 pm, with at least 1,000 traditional costume bearers and mountain musicians. The impressive parade through Chemnitz city centre will begin at Theaterplatz and end with the final concert at Stadthallenpark at around 3 pm. A pre-concert by the Olbernhau-Grünthal chapel band and the Neustädtel singing group will be held in the Stadthallenpark from 1.30 pm.
12 November to 20 December
Relocation of the weekly market to the area by the Red Tower
Due to construction work for the Chemnitz Christmas market, the weekly market will be relocated to a smaller area at the Red Tower.
The opening hours are from Tuesday to Friday from 9 am to 4 pm and additionally on Saturday 16 November and 23 November 2019 from 9 am to 1 pm, Monday 23 December and Tuesday 31 December 2019 from 9 am to 1 pm.
