Chemnitz Christmas tree expected on 15 November - Opening of Christmas market on 28 November - Grand mountain parade on 29 November
Fair around the town hall on Monday 3 November, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.: This year's last fair will be held around Chemnitz town hall. As usual, the traders will have an extensive range of goods on offer, as well as a wide selection of food and drink. The first fair in the new year is scheduled for 2 February 2015 from 9 am to 4 pm.
Last weekly market of 2014 at the town hall - Saturday, 15 November, 8 am to 12 noon: The last weekly market of the year will take place on Saturday, 15 November 2014, from 8 am to 12 noon, at Chemnitz town hall. The reason for this is the Chemnitz Christmas market, which traditionally begins with the erection of the Christmas tree on the same day.
Arrival of the Christmas tree on Saturday, 15 November: The arrival and erection of the Chemnitz Christmas tree on the market at the town hall is always celebrated in Chemnitz with a small folk festival. Before the time comes on the late afternoon of 15 November, the waiting time can be shortened with a pre-Christmas barbecue, mulled wine and delicious sweets. And a children's carousel will keep the youngest visitors amused.

Weekly market makes way for the Chemnitz Christmas market: From Tuesday, 18 November to 19 December, the weekly market will take place in a smaller version at the Roter Turm to make way for the Chemnitz Christmas market. Opening hours: from 18 November to 19 December 2014, Tuesdays to Fridays from 9 am to 4 pm, on Saturday, 22 November from 8 am to 1 pm.
Opening of the Chemnitz Christmas Market: The Mayor of Chemnitz will open the Chemnitz Christmas Market 2014 on Friday, 28 November at 4 p.m. on the market square by the town hall with the traditional "Stollananschnitt" (cutting of the stollen), together with the tower keeper and Father Christmas. The Christmas market is open until 23 December - www.chemnitz.de/weihnachtsmarkt. One of the special attractions on the first weekend of Advent is the Great Mountain Parade, which takes place on Saturday, 29 November from 2 pm in Chemnitz city centre.
