Market information - the dates in January 2015
Start of the weekly markets 2015: The weekly market at the town hall in Chemnitz always begins in the new year after the felling of the Chemnitz Christmas tree and the dismantling of the large pyramid. Both are scheduled for 7 January every year. The felling and dismantling dates, in turn, are based on the Three Kings' Day on 6 January. Until then, tradition dictates that the Christmas tree and pyramid always remain on site.
The weekly market at the town hall therefore only starts on Thursday, 8 January and is open from Tuesday to Friday from 9 am to 4 pm and on Saturday from 8 am to 1 pm.
The three weekly markets in the city districts will start on Monday, 5 January in Georgstraße, Ernst-Enge-Straße and Dr.-Salvador-Allende-Straße. Opening hours: Georgstraße: Tuesday, Thursday, Friday from 9 am to 5 pm, Saturday 8 am to 12 noon; Ernst-Enge-Straße: Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm, Saturday 8 am to 12 noon; Dr Salvador-Allende-Straße: Monday to Friday, 9 am to 4 pm, Saturday 8 am to 12 noon.
