End of the weekly market at the town hall on 5 November 2016
On Saturday, 5 November 2016, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., the last weekly market of the year will take place at Chemnitz Town Hall.
Fair around the town hall on 7 November 2016, 9 am to 5 pm
On Monday, 7 November 2016, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., the City of Chemnitz will be holding the last annual market of the year around Chemnitz Town Hall. As usual, the traders will have an extensive range of goods on offer. A wide range of food and drink will be on offer to cater for your physical well-being. The first fair in the new year will be held on 6 February 2017, 9 am to 4 pm.
Relocation of the weekly market to the area by the Red Tower from 8 November 2016
Due to construction and set-up work for the Chemnitz Christmas Market, the weekly market will be relocated to a smaller area at the Red Tower from 8 November to 16 December 2016 (except 16 November 2016). The opening hours are from
8 November to 16 December 2016, Tuesday to Friday 9 am to 4 pm and on Saturday, 19 November 2016, 8 am to 1 pm.
Arrival of the Christmas tree on 12 November 2016
Until the arrival of the Christmas tree on 12 November 2016 in the late afternoon, the waiting time can be shortened with a pre-Christmas barbecue, mulled wine and sweets. A children's carousel will keep young visitors entertained.
Opening of the Chemnitz Christmas market on 25 November 2016
Mayor Barbara Ludwig will open the market with the traditional stollen cutting ceremony on
25 November 2016, 4 p.m., on the market square by the town hall together with Father Christmas.
Chemnitz Christmas market
Every year during the Advent season, the area around Chemnitz Town Hall is transformed into a Christmas world in the Ore Mountains. This year, the first vans for the Erzgebirge village on Düsseldorfer Platz will arrive on 5 November to set up the more than 200 huts. The first huts will arrive at the Chemnitz Christmas market from 10 November 2016. From 25 November to 23 December 2016, visitors and guests at the market, Neumarkt, Rosenhof, Jakobikirchplatz, Richard-Möbius-Straße, Düsseldorfer Platz and Innere Klosterstraße will be offered original Erzgebirge folk art, typical tree decorations, Advent arrangements and many Christmas and culinary delights. The Klosterweihnacht on Innere Klosterstraße takes you back to a time long past. The "Erzgebirgsdorf" on Düsseldorfer Platz enchants its customers.
The Chemnitz Christmas market is open on 25 November 2016, 4 pm to 9 pm, from 26 November to 22 December 2016, 10 am to 9 pm and on 23 December 2016, 10 am to 8 pm.
