Market information: Date preview November 2015
On Monday, 2 November 2015, 9 am to 5 pm, the City of Chemnitz will be holding the last funfair of the year around Chemnitz City Hall. As usual, the traders will be offering a wide range of goods. A wide range of food and drink will be on offer to cater for your physical well-being. The first fair in the new year will be held on 1 February 2016, 9 am to 4 pm.
End of the weekly market at the town hall on 14 November 2015
On Saturday, 14 November 2015, from 8 am to 12 noon, the last weekly market for this year will take place at Chemnitz Town Hall. The reason for this is the Chemnitz Christmas market, which traditionally begins after the Christmas tree has been put up.
Arrival of the Christmas tree on 14 November 2015
Until the arrival of the Christmas tree on 14 November 2015 in the late afternoon, the waiting time can be shortened with a pre-Christmas barbecue, mulled wine and sweets. A children's carousel will keep young visitors entertained.
Relocation of the weekly market to the area by the Red Tower from 17 November 2015
From 17 November to 18 December 2015 (except on the public holiday, 18 November 2015), the weekly market will continue in a smaller form at the Red Tower. The opening hours are from 17 November to 18 December 2015, Tuesday to Friday 9 am to 4 pm and on Saturday, 21 November 2015, 8 am to 1 pm.
Chemnitz Christmas market from 27 November 2015
Every year during the Advent season, the area around Chemnitz Town Hall is transformed into a Christmas world in the Ore Mountains. From 27 November to 23 December, visitors and guests can enjoy original Erzgebirge folk art, typical tree decorations, Advent decorations and many Christmas and culinary delights. The Klosterweihnacht on Innere Klosterstraße takes you back in time and the "Erzgebirgsdorf" on Düsseldorfer Platz enchants its customers.
The Chemnitz Christmas market is open on 27 November 2015, 4 pm to 9 pm, from 28 November to 22 December 2015, 10 am to 9 pm and on 23 December 2015, 10 am to 8 pm.
This year, the assembly of over 200 huts will begin after the Christmas tree is up on 16 November on the market square, Neumarkt, Rosenhof, Jakobikirchplatz, Richard-Möbius-Straße and Innere Klosterstraße. Construction of the huts on Düsseldorfer Platz begins on 3 November.
