Makers of the week meet for a networking discussion

Macher der Woche 2014

At the invitation of Lord Mayor Barbara Ludwig, the makers of the week who have supported the city marketing campaign "The city is me" met yesterday. Every week since March 2014, a Chemnitz resident has been presented who is committed to Chemnitz in a special way with their project, idea or work.

In the meantime, more than 40 personalities from the various fields of culture, business and sport have declared their support for their city on the website www.die-stadt-bin-ich.de and in the official gazette. They include, for example, Rolf Esche from Küchwaldbühne e. V., Jörg Kaufmann from silbaerg GmbH, photographer Karla Mohr, Marta Gonzales de Mendibil from the begehungen association and former theatre director Hartwig Albiro. They discussed the external perception of Chemnitz and talked about their love for the city - as can be read in the makers' interviews.

Annegret Haas, Managing Director of Railbeton Haas KG, for example, says: "All in all, I think the city presents itself quite confidently. Economically, Chemnitz is strong and a distinctive city in its own way. A successful, green industrial city with so much culture - we need to talk about it a lot more and be proud of it!"

Wolfgang Vogel from Eisenbahnfreunde Richard Hartmann e. V. called for more historical awareness: "The people of Chemnitz also need to engage with Chemnitz for once. When you engage with the city, you realise things that are not always on the agenda and therefore not always in the spotlight."

And Alexander Liebers, organiser of the Heavy 24 mountain bike race, confesses: "I grew up here, so you know every corner by now. And I think that Chemnitz offers something for everyone over time."

"Either you have the courage to invest or do something, or you don't have the courage. And that decides whether something happens or nothing happens. The mood is very important. That's why it would be nice if the mood in Chemnitz continued to brighten and became even more positive," says Ullrich Hintzen, co-founder and CEO of Fasa AG, for example

Information on the campaign:

Since March 2014, the city marketing campaign with the name "The city is me" has been promoting itself to the people of Chemnitz. The aim is to show your love for the city and say: "Yes, I love being a Chemnitzer!" Launched in March, Chemnitz personalities such as DJ Dirk Duske, the rector of Chemnitz University of Technology and the director of the music school Nancy Gibson describe their relationship to the city on larger-than-life confessions.

On the campaign website www.die-stadt-bin-ich.de, people make their own personal commitment in writing, photographically or as a short video. An ambassador test confronts participants in a tongue-in-cheek way not only with interesting facts about Chemnitz, but also with many clichés about the city. One of the most successful and largest events are the Rock am Kopp concerts, where the Berlin rapper MC FITTI, among others, thrilled several thousand spectators at the "Nischel".

Photos of the event and a group photo of the makers of the week from 2014 can be requested from the press office.
