Maintenance cover for voluntary military service and reservists
With the entry into force of the amended Maintenance Guarantee Act (USG), responsibility for processing maintenance guarantee tasks will be transferred from the federal states to the Federal Office of Bundeswehr Personnel Management (BAPersBw) based in Düsseldorf on 1 November 2015.
The following should be noted in the course of the transfer of responsibilities:
Reservist service and voluntary military service that begins before 1 November 2015:
Applications for the granting of benefits under the USG for reservist service and voluntary military service which begin before 1 November 2015 must continue to be submitted to the City of Chemnitz Maintenance Assurance Authority.
If reservist service or voluntary military service begins before 1 November 2015 and continues beyond 1 November 2015, benefits under the USG will initially be granted by the previous maintenance security authority.
With the transfer of duties to the BAPersBw on 1 November 2015, the files will also be taken over by the Federal Office. Benefits under the USG will then continue to be paid seamlessly by the BAPersBw. In these cases, so-called "most favoured nation" applications can also be submitted - exclusively to the BAPersBw. This involves checking whether there may be higher entitlements as a result of the change in the law on 1 November 2015 and whether this may result in a better position.
Reservist service and voluntary military service, which begins on 1 November 2015:
All applications for the granting of benefits under the USG for reservist service and voluntary military service commencing from 1 November 2015 must be addressed exclusively to the:
