Status of construction work at the stadium on Gellertstrasse
The Planning, Construction and Environment Committee was informed about the status of work on the stadium construction site on Gellertstraße today.
The trapezoidal sheet metal roofing on the west stand is now complete. The 2589 seats and the access to the main camera balcony are currently being installed. Most of the lighting and sound system have been installed. The locksmith work in the grandstand area is also almost complete. The seats have been installed in the press gallery and the commentator positions and desks are being anchored. The seating of the 999 box and business seats is underway. However, the seats in the main stand can only be used once the stadium has been completed. In addition to the complete ELA (electro-acoustic alarm system), the completion of the police and fire brigade security centre is a prerequisite for the use of the West Stand.
The façade work on the main building has been completed. Most of the "fan scarf" has been installed. This special component nestles around the façade of the main building as a design element and thus forms the emotional connection between the arena and the visitors.
The dry construction, screed laying and tiling work is currently being carried out on the interior. The corner glazing is being installed between the individual grandstands.
The additional upgrading measures approved by the city council are also being carried out. The standing area for visiting fans will be separated from the east stand by a safety net.
In the outdoor area, the eco-paving will be laid in the Zietenstraße car park and straightening work will be carried out.
Of the approximately EUR 26.9 million in contractual construction costs, around EUR 22.56 million has already been paid out for services.
General contractor BAM Sports has so far commissioned 53 subcontractors with partial services. The majority of the contracts have been awarded to companies in the region: 34 companies come from the Chemnitz area and Saxony.
Keyword stadium:
The remodelling of the stadium on Gellertstraße will take place while matches continue to be played. A modern arena with 15,000 seats is being created, of which approx. 9,000 seats and 6,000 standing places, including a family block and barrier-free seats. The client is the city of Chemnitz.
