Lyrical spring awakening in the Botanical Garden
Exhibition and terrarium show from 7 to 15 March, daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The Förderverein Botanischer Garten/Naturschutzzentrum Chemnitz e.V. (Chemnitz Botanical Garden/Nature Conservation Centre) invites you to take an unusual spring walk at the beginning of spring this year: A total of 25 poems from seven literary eras and four centuries on the theme of spring and love await visitors to the centre's Mediterranean and Succulent House. The special thing about it: each of the seven literary epochs - from baroque to modern - has been realised floristically and forms the respective background for the poetry enjoyment. What the Baroque, Romantic or Expressionist spring might look like was modelled using floral design techniques. In addition, a banner hung up for each era provides important information to help visitors empathise with the corresponding emotional world. Accompanying material with short notes on each poem is also part of the small exhibition.
Terrarium show 2015 in the tropical house of the botanical garden
And after the floristic-lyrical spring walk, it's off to the terrarium show. Tropical tarantulas, lizards, frogs and snakes can be admired in over 30 terrariums. Displayed in the plant splendour of the greenhouse, this exhibition has a convincing flair, as the animals can be seen in a natural environment. The organisers don't just mean this figuratively. There are also many animals to be discovered outside the terrariums. A visit to the two exhibitions in the Botanic Garden is therefore guaranteed to be an experience for the whole family.
