Lots of music and readings - weekend preview for the cultural summer
For the penultimate time, the Kultursommer will enliven the Brühl with a colourful programme at the weekend - before the grand finale the following weekend. It's especially worth stopping by for the atmospheric music of "Mr Longdrink and his bar stools" - on Saturday from 2 pm with their programme of oldies from the 60s and 70s, swing music and guaranteed handmade classic rock.
Selected events for the weekend:
Friday, 30.08.2013, to Sunday, 01.09.2013, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. each day
Slackwerk Workshop & Show
Like slackliners in city centres elsewhere, this group of young acrobatics enthusiasts from Chemnitz is currently conquering the Brühl with this new trend sport, which involves balancing on a webbing. Spectators can watch the acrobats at the weekend or try balancing themselves.

Reading by Coretta Storz: "City, country, heart - moments in haikus and larger portions"
Coretta Storz reads "Stadt, Land, Herz - Momente in Haikus und größeren Portionen" (City, Country, Heart - Moments in Haikus and larger portions) on the Brühl Terraces. The haiku is the shortest form of poetry in the world. Originating in Japan, it has also had a place in German literature for almost a hundred years. Haikus describe intense moments in condensed language. Coretta Storz preserves moments from urban, rural and inner life in her haikus. In addition to her haikus, there will be texts from the madness that is called everyday life.
Saturday, 31.08.2013, from 12 noon
Music on the Brühlterrassen and in the Barlament
Highlight Mister Longdrink and his bar stools
On Saturday, from 2 to 6 pm, the Kultursommer will be dedicated to friends of good humour: Mr Longdrink and his bar stools. Their programme of oldies from the 60s and 70s, swaying music and guaranteed handmade classic rock will get everyone's feet tapping. You can hear evergreens and the most popular classics from CCR, the Stones, Kinks, Troggs, Lords, Eagles, Janis Joplin and many more. The event will take place on the Brühlterrassen and admission is free.
Beforehand, from 12 noon, the guys from "chemnitz connection" will spoil you with their freaky mix of beatboxing and didgeridoo. After the bar stools, from 6 pm, FlexKev & Animaux will set the mood for the following dance evening from 10 pm in the Brühl Barlament (Brühl 51) with house beats and electronic sounds. This will be followed by "Venom218" (DnB/ Techstep), "BlackPete" (Dancehall) and "D3R G3RÄT" (Dubstep).
