On Thursday, 11 September at 9.30 a.m., Lord Mayor Sven Schulze will welcome the participants of an international network meeting for senior citizens from the twin cities of Ústí nad Labem, Łódź, Ljubljana and Düsseldorf as well as from Chemnitz in the Green Salon of City Hall. As part of the event, the senior citizens will sign the City of Chemnitz's Capital of Culture Book.
Representatives of the media are invited to attend.
From 10 to 12 September 2025, around 25 senior citizens from the Czech Republic, Poland, Slovenia and Germany will meet in Chemnitz for working discussions and tourist visits. The focus will be on exchanging views on work with senior citizens as well as experiences and perspectives on the topic of senior citizens in society. The results of the conference will be summarised in a brochure.
The international senior citizens' conference serves to promote the exchange of experiences between the partner cities at the level of older people and is organised by a broad-based working group of senior citizens from Chemnitz. The meeting is supported by the City of Chemnitz as part of the city partnership and is a micro-project of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025.
