Lord Mayor Sven Schulze appoints economic advisory board
Committee for the strengthening and further development of Chemnitz as a business location
Lord Mayor Sven Schulze has today appointed an Economic Advisory Board. The committee, which consists of 15 representatives from companies, associations, science and trade unions, will advise the Lord Mayor on fundamental issues relating to economic development and business promotion as well as location issues.
"Chemnitz needs a strong economy. I would like to utilise the expertise and network of entrepreneurs and economic players in Chemnitz to achieve this. Our goal is to work together to make Chemnitz economically better, stronger and more sustainable. A city that is worth investing in," says Schulze.
The Economic Advisory Board will meet up to four times a year, or more frequently if necessary. It can call in additional experts. The Economic Advisory Council's deliberations will be held in private. Lord Mayor Sven Schulze will regularly report on the work of the advisory board to the administration and finance committee.
The committee's task is to provide impetus and develop proposals for fundamental and strategic issues in the context of Chemnitz as a business location.
Coordination and organisational support for the Business Advisory Council will be provided by the "Business and Digitalisation" staff unit, which Schulze will set up in the Mayor's department.
"The business community needs direct contacts in the town hall. Short paths and pragmatic decisions are required. That's why the topic is deliberately located directly in the Mayor's department," continued the Lord Mayor. The staff unit also forms the interface to Chemnitz's business promotion and development company CWE.
Depending on pandemic developments, the Economic Advisory Board will meet for the first time at the end of February or beginning of March.
