Lord Mayor Barbara Ludwig opens the Days of Jewish Culture
Opening on 24 February, 7.30 pm at smac
The 27th Days of Jewish Culture in Chemnitz begin next Saturday, 24 February. The focus of this year's series of events is Israel's anniversary. The state was founded 70 years ago. For this reason, the mayor of the Israeli town of Kirjat Bialik, Eli Dukorski, and children and young people from the local music school have been invited to the opening. They will be making music in the Chemnitz State Museum of Archaeology together with children from the Chemnitz Municipal Music School. The young musicians from Kirjat Bialik will play compositions by Israeli and other Jewish composers. The event begins on Saturday, 24 February at 19:30 at smac, Stefan-Heym-Platz 1
In addition, Mayor Barbara Ludwig, as patron of the Days of Jewish Culture in Chemnitz, and the Minister President of the Free State of Saxony, Michael Kretschmer, will deliver welcoming addresses at the smac. The chairman of the association Tage der Jüdischen Kultur in Chemnitz e.V., Egmont Elschner, will speak about the 27th Days of Jewish Culture in Chemnitz and the mayor of the city of Kirjat Bialik will speak with German translation on the subject of 70 years of Israel.
