Lord Mayor at the Rose Monday parade in Düsseldorf
When the big carnival parade passes through Düsseldorf on Rose Monday, Lord Mayor Barbara Ludwig will be in the thick of it instead of just taking part. The head of Chemnitz is thus following an invitation from the Lord Mayor of the twin city, Thomas Geisel. "Following my counterpart's visits to our city for the Chemnitz Marathon and the 25th anniversary of reunification, I am delighted to be invited back to experience Rose Monday in the Rhineland," says Lord Mayor Barbara Ludwig, who is spending Rose Monday in Düsseldorf for the first time.
Well advised by the outfitters at Chemnitz Theatre, she chose the "August the Strong" costume for the occasion. The head of protocol, Robert Frenzel, who is accompanying her to Düsseldorf, will be there as one of Augustus the Strong's mistresses, Countess von Cosel.
In addition to the Rose Monday parade, the programme for the Chemnitz delegation during their one-and-a-half-day stay also includes a meeting with the Lord Mayor of Düsseldorf, Thomas Geisel.
