Due to the very high volume of applications at the driving licence authority, free appointments are currently only available with a longer lead time.
Citizens who are unable to keep their booked appointments are urged to cancel them so that they can be made available again.
Appointments can be made as usual via the appointment portal of the City of Chemnitz or the public authority service number 115.
Spontaneous appointments without an appointment can currently only be processed during office hours in exceptional cases, depending on the available processing capacity. Longer waiting times must also be expected.
If the acquisition or renewal of a driving licence is subject to certain deadlines, please be sure to observe the lead times.
Applications for a driving licence can be submitted as early as six months before the minimum age is reached. This also applies to the renewal of a driving licence.
