Long-term perspective for the Weltecho
GGG buys cultural centre - Further investments in the property planned - Discussions with the associations about next steps planned
GGGmbH signed the purchase agreement for Annaberger Strasse 24 - better known as "Weltecho" - today. Various associations such as Das Ufer e. V. and the Oscar e. V. producers' gallery have been based in the "Weltecho" cultural project for years and offer a diverse cultural programme.
As the new owner, GGG will now sit down with the associations and find a solution to the tasks at hand. First and foremost, noise protection measures will be discussed. In addition, the medium-term goal is to bring the vacant areas back into use.
Lord Mayor Barbara Ludwig: "I am delighted that we have now taken a big step forward here. It is important for our city that the Weltecho with its diverse cultural programme remains in its original location. The clubs have invested a lot of work in the cultural project over the past few years. I am convinced that the change of ownership has created a new and, above all, long-term perspective."
GGG Managing Director Simone Kalew: "The building will be transferred to GGG's core portfolio and managed. As with Tietz, it is important to us to support a wide range of cultural activities in our city. The first thing we will do now is prioritise the work to be done and coordinate the next steps with the clubs."
