From Wednesday to Friday, 2 to 4 September, Chemnitz will be showcasing itself at SEMICON Taiwan in Taipei. This international trade fair is one of the most important events in the semiconductor industry and brings together companies, technology providers and international microelectronics ecosystems. Last year, SEMICON Taiwan attracted more than 100,000 trade visitors and over 1,200 exhibitors.
Chemnitz is using this international platform to showcase its expertise and development potential in the field of microelectronics and to position itself internationally as a hub for technology, industry and further growth. Together with the Saxony Economic Development Agency and other Saxon partners, the city is exhibiting at the Silicon Saxony German Pavilion.
This joint presence highlights the diverse strengths of Saxony’s microelectronics ecosystem on the international stage. Chemnitz brings to the table an environment of technological expertise, high-calibre research and a diverse industrial landscape that has developed over many years.
Chemnitz already possesses expertise in various areas of the microelectronics value chain – ranging from chip design, micro- and nanosystems, and sensor and actuator technology, through to advanced packaging and system integration, right up to testing, qualification and reliability.
At the same time, the strong industrial base creates important conditions for further value creation. Mechanical and plant engineering, automation and production technology, the automotive and supplier industries, as well as mobility and energy technologies, offer a wide range of application areas for microelectronic technologies. In addition, there are strong scientific and technological structures in place, including Chemnitz University of Technology, the Fraunhofer Institutes ENAS and IWU, and other research and industry partners.
Furthermore, the European Test and Reliability Centre (ETRC) is establishing further expertise in the field of testing, qualification and reliability of microelectronics.
At the German Pavilion on 3 September, the city of Chemnitz will present its location’s potential to an international specialist audience under the title ‘Smart Semiconductor Region Chemnitz – Complementing Silicon Saxony’. The focus will be on existing expertise as well as opportunities for collaboration, investment and additional industrial value creation in the region.
