On Thursday, 23 April at 7 pm, the winners of this year's literary scholarship from the city of Chemnitz will introduce themselves in a moderated discussion in the Neue Sächsische Galerie in the TIETZ, 1st floor. Writer and independent director Judith Kuckart and photographer Burkhard Peter will be living in Chemnitz for several months, during which time they will be exploring the city in many different ways.
Admission is free of charge. Representatives of the media are also invited.
In the discussion, which will take place on UNESCO World Book Day, both will provide insights into their previous work and their plans for their time in Chemnitz. The laudatory speech will be given by Prof Ulrike Brummert, docteur d'Etat (member of the jury for awarding the literature scholarship), and the evening will be moderated by Volker Tzschucke. Musical accompaniment will be provided by Gwendolin Kyra Schmerer (violin, vocals) and Luca Behrendt (accordion, vocals).
Judith Kuckart and Burkhard Peter applied for the City of Chemnitz's literary scholarship as a tandem, in order to each contribute individually to a project and also to a joint project in the city of Chemnitz. They beat 52 other applications and will split their stay equally from the beginning of April to the end of September, with Burkhard Peter starting on 1 April. The two have already worked together on several joint projects in the past.
