On Monday, 27 March at 7.30 pm, Arna Aley, the first literary scholarship holder of the City of Chemnitz, will be officially bid farewell to the city society with an event at the Neue Sächsische Galerie in the TIETZ, Moritzstraße 20.

After a welcoming address by Ferenc Csák, Head of Cultural Operations of the City of Chemnitz, there will be speeches by Egmont Elschner, Chairman of the Cultural Advisory Board, and Angela Malz, Director of Chemnitz University Library. Afterwards, Arna Aley will talk to Dr Lutz Graner about her time in Chemnitz. The event will be accompanied by music from Tobias Brunn.
Arna Aley has lived in Chemnitz since the beginning of October 2022, meeting people and recording their life stories. She explored Chemnitz residents' favourite places, researched the city's history and actively participated in cultural and social life. She processed her experiences in stories, which she regularly presented in readings. "Writing is like a date with the subject of the dialogue. I dated Chemnitz for six months. I can already say with certainty that Chemnitz has sharpened my view of the present. I'm not saying goodbye to the city, I'm taking it with me: Faces, thoughts, stories. But also the inscrutable, which makes me want more. To be continued," says Arna Aley.
