Reading of early Stefan Heym poems on 14 March

On Tuesday, 14 March 2017 at 7 pm, members of the International Stefan Heym Society and artists will read early poems by Stefan Heym and present their genesis in biographical contexts.

The evening will be hosted by Dr Ulrike Uhlig, Chair of the Board of the International Stefan Heym Society.

Anyone interested is cordially invited to the Borssenanger Gallery, Straße der Nationen 2. Admission is free.

Many people in Chemnitz are familiar with Stefan Heym's poem "Exportgeschäft", which he wrote as a pupil at the grammar school on Hohe Straße and whose publication in the "Volksstimme" led to a "political provincial scandal". It is less well known that he also wrote poetry as a young journalist and writer in Berlin and later in Prague.

A joint event organised by the International Stefan Heym Society, the Chemnitz Adult Education Centre and the Borssenanger Gallery.
