Literary quartet at the TIETZ
New books by Saxon authors in a discussion and reading with Jens Wonneberger on 7 September, 7 pm
On Tuesday, 7 September at 7 pm, interested parties are invited to the Literary Quartet at the TIETZ. Michael Hametner, author and literary critic from Leipzig, Andreas Berger, Head of Culture at MDR Sachsen in Dresden, Karin Großmann, editor of the Sächsische Zeitung Dresden and Lutz Graner from Eichenspinner Verlag in Chemnitz will be discussing the following books:
- Patricia Holland-Moritz, "Kaßbergen" (Aufbau Verlag)
- Paula Irmschler, "Superbusen" (claasen)
- Lukas Rietzschel, "Raumfahrer" (dtv)
- Jens Wonneberger, "Mission Pflaumenbaum" (published by Muery Salzmann).
Afterwards, the Dresden writer Jens Wonneberger will read from his novel
"Mission Plum Tree".

The novel "Mission Plum Tree"
A village, somewhere in the former East, thirty years after reunification. Kramer, a librarian in his mid-fifties, has just arrived to visit his daughter Justine. The relationship between them has not been the best for years. Justine and her husband have bought an old house, including a beautiful orchard, if it weren't for the dead plum tree.
On the way to the house, where the ribbon weaving mill once stood, Kramer gets involved in a conversation with an old codger, Rottmann, who immediately draws him deep into the history of the village. Rottmann complains about everything and everyone, even during their subsequent encounters, often using arguments that Kramer thinks he recognises from the Pegida demonstrations. Nevertheless, he begins to take an interest in the old man's life and the village.
Jens Wonneberger
born in 1960, lives in Dresden. He first studied civil engineering and then worked as a cleaner and salesman. He has been a freelance author and editor since 1992. Various scholarships, 2010 Saxon Literature Prize, 2017 Work Scholarship of the German Literature Fund, 2019 London Scholarship of the German Literature Fund.
