Lights out for Earth Hour on 25 March
Chemnitz takes part in the world's largest climate protection campaign organised by the WWF
On Saturday, 25 March, from 8.30 pm to 9.30 pm, Chemnitz is taking part in this year's WWF Earth Hour. Traditionally, both the lighting of the Karl Marx Monument and the colourful chimney of the combined heat and power plant, the largest building in Saxony, have been switched off for one hour in the past. However, due to the energy crisis, these have not been lit for some time now. Nevertheless, it is particularly important to support Earth Hour again this year. Chemnitz residents are therefore called upon to take part, whether at home or on the move, whether analogue or digital.
The lights will go out again around the globe from 8.30 pm on this day. During WWF Earth Hour, thousands of cities, communities and companies will switch off their lights for one hour to send a strong signal for the protection of the Earth.
WWF Earth Hour is the world's largest campaign for more climate and environmental protection. Millions of people around the world are taking part for the 17th time.
