Lights out for Earth Hour on 23 March
Chemnitz takes part in the world's largest climate protection campaign organised by the WWF
On Saturday, 23 March, from 8.30 pm to 9.30 pm, Chemnitz is taking part in this year's WWF Earth Hour. Traditionally, both the illumination of the Karl Marx Monument and the colourful chimney of the Eins combined heat and power plant, the largest building in Saxony, will be switched off for one hour.
The lights around the world will go out again from 8.30 pm on this day. During WWF Earth Hour, thousands of cities, communities and companies will switch off their lights for one hour, sending a strong signal for the protection of the earth.
WWF Earth Hour is the world's largest campaign for more climate and environmental protection. Millions of people around the world are taking part for the 18th time.
