Liddy-Ebersberger-Straße 2 property to be completely refurbished

Kinder-, Jugend- und Familienhilfe e.V. receives funding totalling around 2.36 million euros

At its meeting yesterday, the Youth Welfare Committee of the City of Chemnitz decided to grant the recognised independent youth welfare organisation Kinder-, Jugend- und Familienhilfe e.V. a financial contribution totalling around €2.36 million for the complete renovation of the Liddy-Ebersberger-Straße 2 property in the 2017/2018 biennial budget - subject to the adoption of the 2017/2018 budget statutes and the provision of funding. This sum will be split into two annual instalments. In 2017, the grant amounts to 855,000 euros and in 2018 to 1.5 million euros. Of this amount, 500,000 euros are earmarked from state subsidies.

The refurbishment of the building, which was constructed in the 1960s, will enable the centre to be preserved in the long term. Kinder-, Jugend- und Familienhilfe e.V. operates an after-school care centre, rooms for social group work, a youth leisure facility and a creative centre in the building.

The complete refurbishment includes the renovation of the façade with thermal insulation, including new exterior doors and windows. The sanitary facilities will be reorganised and adapted, and new doors will also be installed in the interior. A new ventilation system, a new heating distribution system and new drinking water pipes will be installed. A new electrical system will also be installed. Fire protection, safety, heat and sound insulation requirements will also be taken into account. The refurbishment also includes barrier-free elements, such as a disabled toilet and a ramp for wheelchair users.

The existing rooms will be reorganised according to the current conditions of use. The outdoor area will also be completely redesigned.
