Lichterwege - Call of the "BuntmacherInnen"

Information from the Coordination Office on the Local Action Plan for Democracy, Tolerance and a Cosmopolitan Chemnitz (LAP), Partnership for Democracy as part of the federal programme "Living Democracy"

The city of Chemnitz is supporting the initiative of the "BuntmacherInnen" (Colour Makers), who, together with many committed people, are calling for a new sign of openness and solidarity in the city community on 9 November.

As in the previous year, there will once again be a trail of lights to commemorate the atrocities of the Reichspogromnacht and the subsequent genocide of millions of Jews.

As the peaceful revolution on 9 November 30 years ago led to the fall of the wall between the two German states, this event should also be commemorated in a dignified manner. The "Paths of Light" will therefore also lead to corresponding places of remembrance.

The opening rally will take place on Saturday, 9 November, from 5.15 to 5.45 pm at the Kaßberg prison learning and memorial site (Kaßbergstraße 17) with music and speeches.
