Léon Poliakov: From hatred to genocide. The Third Reich and the Jews

Léon Poliakov (1910, St. Petersburg - 1997, Orsay) was an important French historian who primarily researched the topics of racism, anti-Semitism, Jewish history and the history of the Holocaust. As early as 1951, together with Francois Mauriac, he published a comprehensive study - the first ever to be published in Europe - on the hatred of Jews and the Nazis' policy of extermination as well as their historical and intellectual roots (German title: "Saat des Hasses").
Hannah Arendt wrote: "Anyone who wants to know 'what really happened' and 'how it really happened' ... cannot afford to overlook this study and would perhaps do best to begin with it."
But while Poljakov's "History of Anti-Semitism" has been translated into German in eight volumes since the 1970s, it took 70 years before his "epochal book on the persecution and murder of the European Jews ... a masterpiece of historiography" (René Schlott, FAZ) under the title "Vom Hass zum Genozid. The Third Reich and the Jews".
Alexander Carstiuc, historian (M.A.) and qualified social pedagogue (FH), works on the topics of early Shoah research, anti-Semitism, antiziganism and National Socialism. Co-translator of Léon Poliakov's memoirs.
