Leisure sports centre in Konkordiapark to be expanded
Following the construction of a new in-situ concrete skate park in 2014 to meet the needs of users, the range of facilities is now being expanded with the construction of a new facility for practising the trend sport of parkour. For this purpose, wall elements made of prefabricated reinforced concrete elements have already been erected at various heights and distances over an area of approx. 130 m², some of which will then be connected with stainless steel pipes. The system will be installed at the end of the existing road stump on Konkordiastrasse. At the end of the project, the road stump will be removed. All that remains is a maintenance access road with gravelled turf surfacing.
The planning services were provided by Bauconzept from Lichtenstein/Sa. who had already planned many parts of the existing leisure sports areas.
The construction work for the new parkour facility and the dismantling of Konkordiastrasse was commissioned in autumn 2015 following a public tender.
The construction costs amount to around EUR 77,000. The project is subsidised.
The contractor is Fachcenter Garten + STL-Bau GmbH from Hauptmannsgrün (near Zwickau), which has already completed many construction projects for the city of Chemnitz.
In preparation for the construction work, a corresponding structural analysis had to be carried out before the prefabricated elements could be produced. The construction work should be largely completed by mid-April. After that, the remaining landscaping work will be carried out to create the surrounding lawns and the final maintenance will be carried out until autumn 2016.
