On Tuesday, 7 October at 5 pm, interested parties are invited to a lecture at the Chemnitz Nature Conservation Station, Adelsbergstraße 192. Nature conservation assistant Rüdiger Peschel will be talking about the beetle fauna in Chemnitz. Admission is free of charge.
Beetles are one of the most species-rich groups of animals and are of great importance in the ecosystem. They decompose organic matter, pollinate flowers and are themselves a source of food for other animals. Around 7,000 different species of beetle live in Germany, and over 5,000 have been recorded in Saxony.
What is the situation in Chemnitz? Who and how can you tell these many different beetle species apart and where can you look for and find them? Chemnitz beetle expert Rüdiger Peschel, who has been researching this group of species for decades, provides answers to these questions.
