Lecture evening: "When the wolf comes..."

Date: Tuesday, 27 November, 6 p.m., event hall Haus TIETZ

The last lecture evening in this year's programme of monthly events organised by the voluntary nature conservation service will take place on Tuesday, 27 November and will be dedicated to the wolf, a mammal that was thought to be extinct in Saxony for around 150 years. The speaker for the evening will be Vanessa Ludwig from the "Wolfsregion Lausitz" contact office of the Görlitz District Office. The lecture is entitled "When the wolf comes ...".

This time, the event is being organised in cooperation with the adult education centre. As an exception, the venue is not the nature conservation centre as usual, but the event hall on the 3rd floor of the TIETZ building. Nature conservation helpers and all other citizens interested in the topic are cordially invited to the lecture - admission is free.
Please note that the lecture starts at 6 pm this time.

About the topic of the lecture: In 2000, however, a pair of wolves that had migrated to Upper Lusatia from neighbouring Poland managed to raise pups again for the first time. The current distribution area of the Lusatian wolf population includes the Muskauer Heide and the heath and pond landscape in Upper Lusatia in eastern Saxony as well as part of Lower Lusatia in southern Brandenburg. People often associate wolves with fears, and the lecture - according to the city's environmental department - is intended to help objectify the often emotionally debated topic.
