Lecture at the Adelsberg nature conservation centre
Tomorrow, 19 February 2013, 5 pm on the topic of "Bird migration on the Amur"
All nature conservation helpers and guests are invited to an additional event, a lecture on the Amur Bird Migration Project - a bird migration research project in the Amur region - in which young Chemnitz ornithologists and former nature conservation volunteers are significantly involved.
Andreas Siegmund, a student of landscape ecology and nature conservation in Greifswald, will give the lecture "Bird migration on the Amur - field research in Far Eastern Russia". The project started in 2011 in the Muraviovka Park bird sanctuary, in which over 7000 birds of 92 species were caught, identified, ringed and measured in 2012, is investigating bird migration along the Amur and is to be continued this year.
This data is intended to clarify the causes of endangerment and help initiate protection and countermeasures at an early stage. Another aspect of the project is environmental education, which considerably strengthens the local population's understanding and acceptance of nature conservation and inspires enthusiasm in school classes through close contact with the local birdlife, while at the same time stimulating reflection.
The lecture will take place on Tuesday, 19 February 2013 at 5 pm in the citizens' room of the nature conservation station at Adelsbergstraße 192. The lecture is free of charge, donations for the continuation of the bird conservation project are welcome.
