Leaving & Staying – The Festival of Mourning

Event organised by Hospiz- und PalliativNetz_C Chemnitz on 14 November, from 10 am to 6 pm, Garagen-Campus, Zwickauer Straße 164

On Saturday 14 November, from 10 am to 6 pm, anyone interested is invited to the ‘Gehen & Bleiben’ bereavement festival at the Garagen-Campus, Zwickauer Straße 164. Organised by Hospiz- und PalliativNetz_C Chemnitz, the festival aims to create a space for meeting others, sharing experiences and gaining new perspectives. In three rooms at the Garagen-Campus, visitors are invited to engage with the themes of farewell, grief and remembrance in a variety of ways through music, culture, conversation, stories, creative activities and moments of quiet reflection.

Admission is free. No registration is required. The Garagen-Campus is wheelchair-accessible and can be reached by public transport (Am Feldschlösschen railway station and Platnerstraße bus stop).

The festival offers different approaches to the theme of grief across the three spaces:
• Main workshop: ‘Meet – Learn – Get Involved’ with a cultural stage, performances, music, talks, information stands, hands-on activities, exhibitions, and a bar/café
• Creative Workshop: ‘Understanding – Sharing – Co-creating’ with a storytelling stage, discussion groups, group work, creative activities and workshops
• Alte Dreherei: ‘Reading – Listening – Reflecting’ with a reading stage, sound room, quiet spaces, artistic works, book table and media library

The Hospiz- und PalliativNetz_C Chemnitz brings together stakeholders from the field of hospice and palliative care services as well as other social organisations from Chemnitz. It is supported and complemented by network partners dedicated to the topics of death, dying, grief and saying goodbye.

Further information about the event can be obtained by telephone on 0371 488-5564, -5552 or by email at pflegenetz_c(at)stadt-chemnitz.de.
