From Monday 17 August, just in time for the start of the school year, Edurino figures and pens will be available to borrow from the Central Library at TIETZ. This has been made possible by a generous donation from a member of the Förderer der Stadtbibliothek Chemnitz e. V. association.
Edurino is a digital play and learning system for children aged between approximately four and eight, which combines digital media with tactile figures. Its development was supported by primary school teachers and educationalists. The concept aims to prepare children for starting school in a playful and age-appropriate way across various areas, such as basic knowledge of letters and numbers.
The learning system consists of three main components:
The learning app: An ad-free app for tablets or smartphones (iOS, Android, Amazon Fire) that contains various learning worlds and games. Library users must install this app on their device to be able to use the figures.
The physical game characters: Each character (such as the fox ‘Mika’ for German or the raccoon ‘Robin’ for maths) unlocks a specific themed world and associated learning content when placed on the tablet. The topics range from letters and numbers to English, logic, emotions and telling the time.
The ergonomic stylus: A triangular stylus specially designed for children, which can be used by both left- and right-handers and helps to develop correct pen grip when drawing and writing on the screen.
From 17 August, users can borrow up to three Edurino products at a time from the Central Library at TIETZ. The selection includes Edurino figures for individual subject areas, styluses, or sets comprising a stylus and a figure.
All Edurino items have a loan period of four weeks and can be renewed once. As with the Tonie figures, items are borrowed via a proxy system using picture cards.
