On Monday, 16 December at 2 pm, representatives of the media are invited to a photo session at the primary school "Am Stadtpark", Friedrich-Hähnel-Straße 86, room 2.15 (music room). Mayor Ralph Burghart and the team leader of the SyS-C school computer centre, Sebastian Klost, will integrate an interactive whiteboard into the system and put it into operation. It is one of the last interactive boards to be co-financed by the Digital Pact.
The Digital Pact for Schools was launched five years ago. With this pact, the federal government provided funding from 2019 to 2024 for the nationwide development of a modern digital education infrastructure. In Saxony, the Digital Schools Directive formed the basis. According to this, the city of Chemnitz - the school authority for 84 schools - received a grant totalling around 12.5 million euros.
Other projects funded via the Digital Pact and the federal funds from 2020, which were increased during the coronavirus pandemic, increased the grants by a further €5.5 million to a total of €18 million. In addition to the federal funds, the city of Chemnitz financed its own contribution of €1.2 million in the area of equipment and €3.2 million in the area of building-side data network expansion*.
In addition to the Digital Pact for Schools, the 100th anniversary of the Media Education Centre (MPZ) will be celebrated in a non-public week of festivities. At the same time, the Chemnitz School Computing Centre celebrates its 20th anniversary.
