Last event in the series "875 years of history in twelve months"
On Friday, 7 December at 6 p.m., there will be a round table discussion at the Museum of Industry, Zwickauer Straße 119, entitled "Resümee und Ausblick. 2018: City Anniversary, 2020: 4th Saxon State Exhibition, 2025: European Capital of Culture". Ralph Burghart, Mayor of Culture, Dr Oliver Brehm, Director of the Industrial Museum, Sören Uhle, Managing Director of CWE and Lucia Schaub, CWE Project Manager for the city's anniversary, will take part in the discussion. Admission is free.
The discussion will summarise the 20 events that took place as part of the "875 years of history in twelve months" series. The panellists will also look ahead to the challenges of the coming years. From 25 April to 1 November 2020, the 4th Saxon State Exhibition will focus on the entire region of south-west Saxony as a cradle of industrialisation. With the focus on "People, Culture and Industry", the large central exhibition in Zwickau and exhibitions in six regional museums will present exciting topics and objects at authentic locations. The participants will also take a look ahead to 2025, as Chemnitz is applying to become the European Capital of Culture.
Review 2018: The CWE organised the event series "875 Years of Stories in Twelve Months", which was held jointly with the Chemnitz History Society, the Saxon Industrial Museum, the Castlebergmuseum, the Chemnitz State Museum of Archaeology and the city archives, thus enabling all events to be offered free of charge to participants.
The 20 events were attended by around 1750 people. Some programme items had to be repeated due to the high demand.
In total there were:
- 12 lectures (some with guided tours)
- 3 round tables/panel discussions
- 4 guided tours, city tours, excursions
- 1 concert
Several events were organised in partnership with the St. Jakobi Johannis parish, the Jewish community, the Saxon State Archives and the Chemnitz branch of the BStU.
