The Supervisory Board of Chemnitzer Wirtschaftsförderungs- und Entwicklungsgesellschaft mbH (CWE) elected Lars Herrmann as the new Managing Director at its meeting on 19 March 2024.

He will take up his post in the summer, succeeding Simone Kalew and Katja Loße, who have taken over the management of CWE on an interim basis.

Lars Herrmann holds a degree in cultural economics and has been Sales Director at the international hotel chain Four Seasons since 2022.

"I am delighted that we have been able to recruit Lars Herrmann, a professionally experienced and internationally networked expert, for this role," said Lord Mayor Sven Schulze, Chairman of the CWE Supervisory Board. "Together with the entire team, he will continue to develop the CWE and further strengthen the Chemnitz tourism region, especially in the coming Capital of Culture year. We wish him every success in this endeavour. At the same time, I would like to thank Mrs Kalew and Mrs Loße, who have managed the CWE very well and repositioned it over the past few months," continued Sven Schulze.

Lars Herrmann (41) comes from Chemnitz. After studying cultural economics, he initially worked in Florence for five years. He returned to Chemnitz in 2013 and worked as Sales Manager for the Four Seasons Group before taking on the position of Director of Sales for various international resorts of the hotel chain in 2022. He has broad experience and in-depth expertise, particularly in the areas of tourism, project management and intercultural communication. Thanks to his work in an international group, he has a broad tourism network that he can draw on.

"I look forward to contributing my skills and experience to shaping the present and future of our city in the best possible way. The Capital of Culture year 2025 in particular is a great opportunity that I will shape successfully and sustainably for Chemnitz together with the CWE employees," says Lars Herrmann.
