Large participation of city employees in the Chemnitz company run
Tomorrow, Wednesday, the City of Chemnitz will be taking part in the Chemnitz company run with 202 starters. This is the highest number of running-enthusiastic colleagues from the city administration since the first start six years ago. Last year, 113 ran through Chemnitz city centre.
115 women and 87 men from almost all areas of the city administration will set off on Hartmannplatz from 6.30 p.m. and complete the almost five-kilometre course. With 40 athletes, the Social Welfare Office is the department with the most runners. Five of the city's trainees will also be taking part.
The City of Chemnitz is paying the entry fees as part of its company health management programme. For the first time, the employees will also be running in a standardised outfit.
"I am delighted that we were able to reach over 200 participants this year and it shows how important sporting activity and health are to our colleagues. I would like to thank the organisers for their commitment, now in its eleventh year, and of course hope for good results for the many municipal participants. Although the Olympic motto also applies here - taking part is everything," says Mayor Sven Schulze, who is taking part himself.
