Large participation of city employees in the Chemnitz company run

The city of Chemnitz is once again taking part in the Chemnitz company run this year with 248 starters. Last year, 203 ran through Chemnitz city centre. On Wednesday, 6 September, the organisers of the company run are expecting around 8,000 participants. That would be the highest number of running enthusiasts since the start of the event series in 2006.

146 women and 102 men from almost all areas of the city administration will set off from 6.30 pm on Hartmannplatz to complete the five-kilometre course. With 32 athletes, the Social Welfare Office is the department with the most runners. In addition, 10 trainees from the city will be taking part.

The City of Chemnitz is paying the entry fees as part of its company health management programme. As last year, the employees will be running in a uniform outfit.

"I am delighted that we have been able to increase the number of starters even further compared to previous years, which shows the sporting team spirit of our employees," says Mayor Sven Schulze, who is taking part in the race himself.
